After some things that happened yesterday I have decided to change my lesson plans a little bit. Today you are going to write an essay in which you state your opinion on a topic. There are a few ground rules:
You will not have anything open on your computer EXCEPT Word.
You will write using the knowledge you already possess (or think you possess) on this topic.
You will NOT talk to your neighbor.
You will not ask ANY questions unless you need me to clarify a point.
Once you finish writing you will share these with me and I will post them in a common Google Document. Make sure you use black when writing because edits will be made in a different color.
Has the American education system failed you? Explain your answer.
What is your stance? (Has the "system" failed you or has it worked for you? Or possibly both?)
What experiences throughout your entire education have influenced your position?
What are some things that teachers/schools could do differently to help YOU learn?
What changes would you like to see in schools that would make them better for future generations of students? What are some things that you would like to see remain the same.
